Year One Art Project

The children in Year One have been involved in an exciting art project. Every child has created their own personal design on a piece of square fabric using paint, which was inspired by the Spanish Artist Antoni Gaudi. The children have attached all of their squares of fabric together (similar to a patchwork effect) and this will be displayed in school when it is finished.  Keep checking the website for the finished article. Year 1 Visit to BlagdonForest

Mrs Walton's class enjoyed a great day at Blagdon Forest. They spent the day building fairy and dragon dens in the forest and learning all about a fire circle and how to build one. The forest advisors are coming to our school to build our very own fire circle in our grounds with Year 1at the end of January. Click on the photo below to access lots more photos.

 Antoni Gaudi

Year 1 had great fun learning about the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. We looked at some of his most famous buildings such as La Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera and talked about their shape and why Gaudi designed them to look the way they do.We also looked at Gaudi’s beautiful mosaic work in Parc Guell.

Then we put our knowledge into action when we went outside and gathered up natural objects to make our own Gaudi design.  We used leaves, twigs, fruit which had fallen from the trees in our grounds as well as some lovely pieces of bark which we found on the ground.

We then set to work and designed two fabulous sculptures of an apple tree and a mosaic Elmer the Elephant.  You can see the results for yourself if you click on the link below.
