School council
At Oakfield Infant School we ensure the children have their own opinions heard about their school. The school council is made up of 12 members from KS1 and Foundation Stage
Meet the Autumn Term School Council.....

Our school councillors take an active role in all aspects of school life. In school council meetings children’s views are represented, ideas are discussed and acted upon and local and global projects are undertaken. Recent projects have included:
• Sponsor a Child
• Esh Award – 40th Birthday/Community Garden
• Anti-bullying project
• Playtime Buddy system
• Development of Playground areas
• Membership of Junior Gateshead Community Network
• Fair Trade Initiatives
• Neighbourhood Agreement
• Money Awareness Activities
• Charities – Barnardos, NSPCC
• Greenhouse development.
The council meet once per half term to discuss new initiatives in school. The children in the council also have the opportunity to help with organised events, such as school performances, coffee mornings and community activities.
We also run a buddy scheme in school mainly at playtimes and lunchtimes. We have a well used buddy bench and beddy teddy bears too. Meet our buddies for the Autumn term:

We are very aware of looking after our environment. Mrs Ollivere runs an Eco-Warrior Club on a Monday lunchtime. They deal with all of our recycling needs, and make decisions about about how we can all be more eco-friendly. Meet our Autumn Term Eco-Warriors!

As a school we take Health and Safety very seriously! We have recently appointed a number of Health and Safety Representatives who take regular inspections around school to make sure we are following the Health and Safety rules correctly. Meet our Health and Safety Representatives!
